In the UK, so many of us have gardens that we don’t always use to their full potential.  However, by enhancing the experience of spending time in your outside space, you resolve this problem and create a garden that you will be delighted to spend as much time in as possible.  Just keep reading for our suggestions on smart ways to enhance your experience of spending time in your own garden.

This is a collaborative post.

Add some seating

First of all, if you want to enjoy spending more time in your garden, you have to provide somewhere comfortable to sit. The problem here is that garden furniture needs to be so much more robust than anything you place inside, because it needs to be able to withstand all that the weather can throw at it.

With this in mind, many people choose wooden furniture because it’s stained to protect it from the elements. However, even a robust wooden piece will succumb to the elements eventually, rotting and becoming unusable.  That is why those who are looking for an option that is usable for longer are now choosing picnic tables that are made from recycled plastic for their outside space. Indeed, there is a wide range of benefits from choosing such garden furniture, including having access to combined seating and somewhere to eat, as well as being much more rugged and able to withstand the weather for a sustained amount of time! Oh, and did we mention that they look great, too!

Add some cover

Another thing that you can do to enhance your experience of spending time in your garden is to add some cover. After all, while we get some sunny days here in the UK, we also get some pretty rainy ones, too, and it’s good to still be able to get outside and have a usable space.

One kind of cover you may want to install in your garden is an awning. These are usually made from fabric, plastic or metal and attached to at least one wall. The idea is that you can pull them out when you need either shade or protection from the elements, but pull them back in when you want to make the most of the sunshine.

Then there are the most common types of shades that people use in the UK, parasols, otherwise known as sun shades. These are basically big umbrellas that people either fix in a hole that’s in their garden table, or have free-standing, along with a weighted base so they don’t fall over. Sunshades are popular because they tend to be a less expensive option, and they can be moved pretty easily, too, meaning you can use them in just about any spot in your garden. However, they don’t provide great cover for when it’s training and are mostly suitable for sun protection only.

Add fragrant plants

You can also enhance your garden experience with fragrant plants. Then you’ll be greeted then you will be greeted by a wonderful smell every time you step outside of your door.  Of course, it’s important to select plants based on whether you like the fragrance they produce.  For example, many people love the floral and fruity notes of the small white jasmine flower.  However, for others, this beautiful Bloom can actually smell like decaying matter, making it less than ideal for use in their garden.

Another excellent option is to add lavender plants to your garden, which produce a herbal, powdery floral scent that can be both relaxing and invigorating at the same time.  The great thing about lavender is that it also looks beautiful and attracts lots of different insects, which is excellent for anyone trying to create a more sustainable and eco-friendly space in their garden.

Add a water feature

Now that we have looked at adding enjoyment through smell in your garden, let’s examine how we can use sound in the form of a water feature.  Indeed, for many people, it is the trickling and bubbling of the water that is the key advantage of adding a water feature to their garden.  This is because it can be incredibly relaxing and help people achieve and almost meditative state while spending time outside.

Of course, you may think that you have to install a huge pond to have a water feature in your garden, but this is no longer the case.  Instead, you can use solar-powered water features which move the water around, providing that all-important sound, as well as oxygenation, and that can be installed just about anywhere.
